The Shock Block System will help you as EMRs and Primary and Advanced care paramedics recognize shock earlier, know what treatments are needed, and prioritize to prevent shock from worsening or restore perfusion in their patients. The paramedics understand the conceptual framework of the shock block system and how each block needs to work together to help them maintain their patient’s perfusion and hemostasis. The system is based on four blocks, each representing a different body system that must work together seamlessly to maintain perfusion. The Command Center, Ventilation, Pump, and Container blocks must stack upon one another for optimal physiological performance. If one of these blocks starts to fail, moving out of alignment shock happens. Paramedics know how each of these blocks works together, which will help them keep the block from moving further out of line to failure or even bring the blocks in a line to maintain the patient’s perfusion.
